Your Advanced Search page can contain any field provided through your MLS's IDX feed. In some cases, the MLS's IDX feed will differ from the fields displayed on the MLS's website, or their search tools. If this is the case, either the MLS has recently updated their IDX fields and IDX Broker isn't mapped to those fields, or the MLS doesn't not include the field in their IDX feed.

If you discover that a field is not available and should be available, please take the following steps:

  1. Contact IDX Broker Support - If the field is available, we can map our data to the field. Unfortunately we don't always receive notice that a new, important field has been added so we depend on clients for this information.
  2. Contact your MLS directly - Ask them to update their IDX feed to include the field in question. This assumes that the field can be made available as per the MLS's Terms and Conditions.

You can control what fields are displayed on your Advanced Search page by going to Customize --> Advanced Search.

Since fields may differ for each property type, first select a property type from the drop-down menu at the top of the page. Default fields for the advanced search are displayed.

You can change the search type for most fields by using the drop-down menu above it.

Note that the free-form text fields have several attributes when searching:

  • You want to use "text", when you want the user to search for the exact value in the field. For example, if you want the user to search for "Sherwood Village" in a subdivision field, then "text" is the one you should choose. Searching by "text" is case-insensitive, so "SHERWOOD VILLAGE", or "sherWoOd VillAge" will also return the result.
  • You want to use "wildcard", when you want to allow the user to search for partial value in the field. For example, if you use "wildcard" type, searching for "sherwood" in a subdivision will return properties that contains the word "sherwood" in the subdivision. So properties with "North Sherwood" or "Sherwood Village" will be in the results.
  • You want to use "keyword", when you want to allow the user to search for all properties that contains the words you input. For example, let say you type in "Sherwood Village", you results will include all properties that have the word "Sherwood" (North Sherwood, Sherwood City, etc) and also all properties that have the word "Village" (Something Village, Village Blah, etc).
You can find more in-depth information on the different search types in this article.

You can also:

  1. Remove a field from the form by clicking the icon.
  2. Rearrange fields by dragging and dropping them, much like the fields on your Dashboard.
  3. Change the size of a field with the buttons.
  4. Clean up the displayed options in a field by clicking the icon.
  5. Add more fields by choosing them from the Add Search Option drop-down menu at the top right of the page.

You can also use wrappers, sub headers and custom CSS to customize your Advanced Search page.
