The IDX
Broker Wordpress Plugin provides an easy way to add IDX links and widgets to
your Wordpress site, right from your Wordpress dashboard. There are countless
themes, plugins, and web hosting settings that provide every website with a
totally unique setup. Because of all of these moving parts, issues or conflicts
may come up between different plugins, theme settings or web hosting settings.
Since these issues are the result of settings independent of IDX Broker, they
cannot be resolved by the IDX team. Any issues on a Wordpress site, or in the
Wordpress dashboard will need to be corrected by the website administrator.
Below are some common issues that can come up when installing or updgrading any
plugin or third party feature on a Wordpress site, and some tips for finding a
resolution.
Errors in the Wordpress Dashboard
When
installing a new plugin or upgrading an existing one, changes are incorporated
into your Wordpress setup that may cause error messages to be displayed within
the Wordpress dashboard. We have documented some common errors here, here
and here. If you do see errors in your Wordpress dashboard after
installing or upgrading the IDX Broker Wordpress Plugin, you can try the
following:
- Remove the IDX Broker Wordpress Plugin from your dashboard. You can do this by going to the Plugins area of your Wordpress dashboard, clicking Deactivate, and then clicking Delete under the name of the plugin you wish to remove.

- If you were using a previous version of the Wordpress plugin successfully, but ran into errors after upgrading to a new version, you can roll back to a previous version of the plugin. Previous versions of the plugin can be downloaded here. After deleting the current version of the plugin from your Wordpress dashboard, you can install a previous version of the plugin by going to Plugins -> Add New in Wordpress. In the menu at the top of the page, select Upload. Use the box provided to upload the .zip file for the version of the plugin you would like to use and click “Install Now.” Then, you can go back to the Plugins page and activate it.

Errors On Live Website Pages
Occasionally,
installing a new plugin can cause errors to be displayed on your live website
pages or may cause parts of the website to display or function incorrectly. It
is possible that access to your Wordpress dashboard may also become
unavailable. The best way to correct these errors is to manually remove the
plugin files from your web hosting via FTP or an alternate way you
access your website files. Below we’ll walk through how to remove a plugin from
a web host using Filezilla.
First, log
on to the root directory of your website.

Open up the
folder labeled “wp-content,” then open the folder labeled “plugins.”

Each plugin
installed on your Wordpress site will have its own folder here labeled with its
name. Find the folder for the plugin you wish to remove and go ahead and delete
the entire folder.

Upgrading to
a new version of Wordpress can also cause compatibility errors with some of
your plugins. Generally, you’ll see upgrades available for most of your plugins
shortly after new versions of Wordpress are released. These upgrades usually
provide fixes to these errors.
Errors With The Global Wrapper
One huge
benefit of using Wordpress with IDX Broker is the ability to integrate your
site design with your IDX pages and set up a dynamic global wrapper that
will automatically update as you make changes to your Wordpress theme. Success
with this powerful feature requires familiarity with editing your Wordpress
theme files and knowledge of your website hosting and security settings. Depending on your web host, upgrading to a
new version of Wordpress may change your security settings. These changes may
cause your website to block IDX Broker from accessing your theme files and
displaying the wrapper on your IDX pages. If this happens, your IDX pages may
appear un-styled with an error such as “There was a problem curing the page,
please make sure your server allows page curling.” may appear at the top of the
page. To fix this issue, the security settings for your website will need to be
adjusted. This may require a call to
your hosting company’s support team if you are unsure how to make the
appropriate changes.
If you are
running into issues using the IDX Broker Wordpress Plugin, then our plugin may
not be a good fit for your website setup. In these cases, we recommend adding
IDX links and widgets to your Wordpress site without using the plugin.
