In some cases, the IDX Start and Stop tags used by the IDX Broker dynamic wrapping tool, are not found on your site pages. There are several possible reasons for this:
  1. This may be caused by your ISP or host provider. Your ISP's firewall or server may be blocking or slowing the IDX Broker server from being able to connect to your website. This intermittent "cannot find start or stop tag" error is usually caused by your firewalls or server. Your server administrator may temporarily block queries to your site if those occur more often than once every 5 or 10 seconds. ISP server Administrators usually do this to prevent server bots and malicious hackers from taking a server offline by sending a rapid number of non-browser hits to the site.
  2. If you have installed the IDX Broker WordPress Plugin, and added start and stop tags to your Theme's index.php or page.php file, you may have simply added the incorrect URL to your Control Panel. To verify that your URL contains the tags, simply open the URL in your browser and hit CTRL + U on your keyboard. This will display the HTML source for that page. Hit CTRL + F to open the search box. Type "idxstart" into the search box and hit "Next". Do the same for "idxstop". If you do not see any results during search, try either your root URL or an About page URL. If both the root, and About pages do not display the tags in HTML source, then you will need to investigate whether you have placed the start/stop tags in the wrong place via the WordPress editor.
  3. If you have NOT installed the IDX Broker WordPress plugin, and do not want to install the plugin, you will need to add this additional script to your functions.php file.
  4. If nothing seems to work, and you are unable to get your dynamic wrapper to function with your WordPress site, we recommend simply going with the Static Wrapper method. While this method will not automatically update your IDX pages as you modify your WordPress menu and sidebar(s), you may request this of your designer. If you purchased your account directly from IDX, Inc, you may request up to two Static Wrapper updates via this Support form
