Note: The IDX Global Wrapper MUST already contain title, Meta keyword, and Meta description tags in the <head> section. Additionally, these Meta items must not have a line break in them. Each element must be it's own single continuous line in the HTML.

Dynamic title and meta tags can tell visitors and search engines more about each IDX property detail page. There are several benefits to adding dynamic title and meta tags to your detail pages:

  • Less duplicate content provided to search engines. Search engines are more likely to crawl sites that offer unique web pages. If title and meta tags for IDX property description pages are all alike, the search engines will be less likely to crawl each page link.

  •
  • More accurate descriptive text for pages that are indexed with search engines. In Google results, the Meta description tag provides about 160 characters of descriptive page text. If this text contains the Address, City, Zip, etc, the visitor may be more likely to click through the search result.

Dynamic Title Tags

If you are looking to create a dynamic Title on all your details pages you will want to navigate to My Preferences -> Global Preferences and scroll down to the SEO Options section.  It will look like the screenshot below.

If you would like to use dynamic title tags on your detail pages you will want to turn this feature on by selecting the the radio button that says "Yes".  Once activated this will automatically insert a dynamic title tag in place of the one you are using in your global or page wrapper.  Using a dynamic title tag is not only great for SEO but also creates a better experience for your users since the page title will match the detail listing data on that page increasing your overall relevancy.

In my example below I am going to use a combination of available dynamic tags and static text to create a unique and relevant page title.  So, I have chosen to use the following: {City} Real Estate {Listing #} - {Listing Address} - {Display Name}.  I will then insert that into the text box to the right of the radio buttons, like the example below.

A list of Possible Tags to use is as follows.

  • {Listing #}
  •
  • {Listing Address}
  •
  • {Listing Description}
  •
  • {Display Name}
  •
  • {Price}
  •
  • {City}
  •
  • {State}
  •
  • {Subdivision}
  •
  • {Area}
  •
  • {Subarea}
  •
  • {County}
  •
  • {Neighborhood}
  •
  • {Zipcode}

These can be used in any combination with or without static text as you prefer.  With the example above I used {City} Real Estate {Listing #} - {Listing Address} - {Display Name} which when displayed inside a browser on the front-end of your website would display a title as follows for a specific listing:
LAKE OSWEGO Real Estate Listing # 90325931901 PALISADES TERRACE DR - Great Property for Sale

The text highlighed above in red is the dynamic text that was pulled in and displayed automatically through this cool IDX feature. Below is a screenshot of this feature in use on the front-end of a website.

Dynamic Meta Tags

Dynamic Meta Tags operate similarly to Dynamic Title Tags. You can add your own static keywords, and mix and match those with the same dynamic keyword variables. This will ensure that the Meta tags display descriptive content that is relevant to users and search engines.

See below for an example of how to combine dynamic with static tags in the Meta Description field:

As well as an example of how to integrate static keywords with your dynamic keyword options in the Keyword Meta tag.
