Custom Search (City) Lists let you create a custom list of cities, counties or ZIP codes for your search pages and order them in any way you choose. You can choose from the list of Cities/Zipcodes/Counties services by a particular MLS, and choose from the IDX Broker list of Cities/Zipcodes/Counties. Note that the MLS list will display only Cities that contain at least one listing. If you don't see your City on the MLS list, choose a State and select a City from the IDX Broker list of Cities/Zipcodes/Counties.

Note that you may create one custom list for each of the three Search items - city, county and zip code. Most clients default to use the City List (not Zipcode or County).

To set up a custom City list, go to My Preferences > Custom Search Lists or My Preferences > Global Preferences > Search Options > City List Tools.

  1. Go to My Preferences > Custom Search Lists.
  2. Under "Available Cities" you will see your MLS's list of Cities. You can select additional City sets from that dropdown as needed.
  3. Select one or more Cities from the list at the left. Hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard to select multiple items.
  4. Click the Add Selected Cities to List button below the form to move them to the list at the right.
  5. Click the up or down arrows on the right to sort the order of your custom City List. You may also select to sort the City Lists in alphabetical or reverse alphabetical order.
  6. You can remove items from the list by highlighting them and clicking the Delete Selected Custom Cities button, or by clicking the Delete All Cities button.
  7. You can also set up a custom county and custom zip code list by using the links under the "Custom Search List" header text.

You may choose which pages use your custom city list. Your Custom List Settings are located directly underneath the custom list. Select Yes or No in each column to determine if the Basic and/or Advanced Search forms will use the custom city list, custom county list, custom zip code list, and if those lists will be sorted alphabetically or in a custom ordering. If a page is using a Search List Filter, this will override any filters you’ve created.
